Remove disk attachment
Turn off the VM before you detach the disk.
Extend size of the virtual disk
VBoxManage modifymedium "/opt/VirtualBoxVM/Windows10/Windows10.vdi" --resize 60000 0%...10%...20%...30%...40%...50%...60%...70%...80%...90%...100%
Reattach disk to the VM
Extend the partition from the OS
Once the disk is extended, the unallocated space appears on the disk. For example on Windows 10, we can extend the C: partition with the Disk Management console.
